It was a successful year for athletics at Royal St. George’s College. Read on for some highlights!
• U12 Basketball: CISAA silver medallists
• U14 Alpine Skiing: CISAA silver medallists
• U14 Badminton: CISAA silver medallists
• U14 Soccer: Division 2 silver medallists
• U14 Softball: CISAA silver medallists
• U14 7’s Rugby: CISAA gold medallists
• U16 7’s Rugby: CISAA silver medallists
• Senior Badminton: Luke Tao qualified for OFSAA in mixed doubles with his partner from Branksome Hall.
• Senior Cross Country: Nine boys — David Barkway, Jeremy Burleton, Jonathon Fisher, Andrew Leishman, Ethan McAuliffe, Angus McLeish, Hudson McDaniel, Graeme Stewart and Will van Nostrand — qualified for OFSAA.
• Golf: Jack Day won gold at the CISAA championships as the lowest scoring senior, shooting a 74.
• Senior non-contact Hockey: The boys won the gold medal at the CISAA championships with an 8-5 win over Country Day School.
• Senior Ski team: The Open division team of Stuart Armstrong, Robbie Bruce, Matthew Pritchard, Everett Redfern and Aidan Turnbull won gold at the CISAA championships and qualified for OFSAA, where they finished 5th in giant slalom and slalom. Aidan finished 5th overall in giant slalom.
• Snowboarding: Ben Christmann won gold at the CISAA championships and qualified for OFSAA, while Jamie Barkway qualified for the CISAA boardercross team.
• Swimming: The swim team picked up four gold medals at the CISAA championships (4x100m senior relay, 100m open free, 100m senior free and 100m junior free) and six boys — Justin Anderson, Matt Anderson, Spencer Canavan, Conor Commons, Andrew Leishman and Jack Pollock — qualified for OFSAA. At OFSAA, the boys has seven top-10 finishes in the province.
• Senior Track and Field: Sebastian Danson followed up double gold medals in the 400m and 800m races at CISAA, running a personal best time of 52.46s in the 400m to qualify for OFSAA.
