Building Confidence and Community through Willy Wonka

We’re just one month away from opening night of Willy Wonka, this year’s Junior School musical, and the excitement is building!

From the very first day of school, students took bold risks, reading lines aloud, singing unfamiliar songs, and stepping into the world of theatre, many for the very first time. For some, it was also their first day at RSGC. What began with courage has grown into something filled with trust, teamwork, and laughter.

Double casting has made space for every student who wanted to be involved, ensuring everyone had a place to explore the arts. It’s also opened the door for peer mentorship, cross-grade connections, and meaningful collaboration. This week, we welcomed our backstage crew, who will manage lights, sound, and props, reminding us that every role matters when bringing a story to life.
Many of our cast members are also athletes and club participants. Teachers, directors, and coaches have worked together so that students can find ways to express all parts of themselves, on stage, on the field, and everywhere in between.
As students continue to go off-book, fine-tune choreography, and build set pieces, what’s emerging is more than just a show; it’s a celebration of joy, creativity, and community.
