Making a Difference: Andrew Chabursky and Roxanne Chemych, Operation Ramzieh

Andrew Chabursky and Roxanne Chemych, parents of Zachary, Class of 2022 and Azarius, Class of 2024, have opened up the doors of their restaurant Old School, at 800 Dundas West in downtown Toronto, to serve as the official home base for Operation Ramzieh.
Operation Ramzieh, started by Abbis Mahmoud in Ottawa, is an action plan to ensure that at-risk people have access to food. Relief kits of food and miscellaneous supplies to last approximately 7-10 days are being delivered to senior citizens and those unable to leave their home. In addition to keeping seniors healthy and alive by ensuring that they don’t have to leave their homes, this initiative gives our healthcare system a fighting chance against the pandemic by flattening the curve.

Mr. Mahmoud and his team kick-started Operation Ramzieh with a personal donation of $40,000. To date, 10,000 kits have been distributed in Ottawa, with close to $100,000 raised for the initiative.

When Mr. Mahmoud reached out to the Chabursky family to take part in this important initiative, they agreed to take part without hesitation. The initial target is to service the immediate area with the remainder of Toronto to follow shortly.

Their entire operation is sustained through crowdfunding, kind volunteers and by generous donors. If you would like to help purchase food for delivery and to support those who are less fortunate, please visit www.operationramzieh.org.

Thank you, Andrew and Roxanne, for helping those in need!
