New Faces at RSGC

There are many new faces on campus this year, both in and out of the classroom. Be sure to say hello if you see them!
Scott Ackley, Alumni Relations Officer, is an alumnus of RSGC from the class of 2004. He is a certified teacher and previously worked for the College back in 2009 and 2011 in various supply and teaching positions. Scott has spent the last five years with The Great-West Life Assurance Company working as an account manager in their Employee Benefits division for small groups. He is excited to be joining the Advancement Office at RSGC and hopes to contribute and work with the Alumni network as well as coaching and developing relationships with the outgoing Grade 12 students as they get set to join the RSGC Alumni network.

Marc Baron, Senior School Physics, has a B.Sc from the University of Saskatchewan in Physics and an M.Sc in Biomedical Physics from Ryerson University. He taught Physics, general Science and Math at both state and private schools (also an all-boys school!) in the United Kingdom for four years before joining RSGC. He enjoys playing and coaching sports, particularly track and field and basketball.

Krithia Chandra, Grade 3, has spent the past nine years in Alberta, where she worked for the Calgary Board of Education teaching Kindergarten through Grade 5. Although she loved living close to the Rocky Mountains, she is happy to be back home in Ontario and living in Toronto for the first time! In addition to Calgary, Krithia’s teaching has also brought her to New Zealand and South Korea. Outside of school, she teaches Zumba fitness classes, enjoys cooking vegetarian food and travelling to new places. She is looking forward to working with the Grade 3 boys and participating in all of the fun learning opportunities at RSGC.

Sarah Dukes, Senior School Math and Computer Science, comes to us with 10 years of teaching experience. Her last school was Toronto Prep School and before that, she was at Toronto New School and at Moor End Technology College and Pudsey Grangefield School, both in Leeds, England. Sarah is looking forward to getting involved in the Robotics and Math clubs.

Stanilas Kotliar is our new chef. He has been working in the culinary industry since 2004, and working in Aramark Higher Education since 2015. He is passionate to serve good quality food and provide top-notch customer service. Stas is excited to be a new member of the Aramark team at RSGC.

Denise Lima is a recent graduate from Centennial College’s Food and Nutrition Management program and joins the Aramark Kitchen Staff. Passionate about nutrition, Denise has also studied global and environmetal studies. She speaks fluent Spanish and is excited to work at RSGC.

Emily Mather is the new part-time French teacher in the Senior School. A teacher since 2004, Emily’s former CAIS schools include Greenwood College School and Collingwood School in West Vancouver. She has a passion for working with students in the independent school system, and her credentials also include outdoor education, science, math and working with students with IEPs. Emily is an avid runner and a mom to two young boys - ages 1 and 5 - in the west end. She went to Queen’s University for Concurrent Education.

Rupa Mehra, Interim Director of University Counselling, started teaching in the Durham District School Board in 1988 and has been at CAIS schools since 2005. She was Head of Student Services at BSS for eight years, where she was in charge of university counselling, social/emotional counselling, ESL, online learning, the Learning Centre, course changes/selections and selfcare workshops. Rupa also held a similar role at Trinity College as the Director of Guidance for two years. When she’s not at work, she loves travelling, reading and eating, but not cooking! Rupa loves working with students on their post-secondary adventures and is looking forward to getting to know the boys. She also loves that she can walk to work.
