Camp RSGC
With rotating strikes affecting public schools across the city, many staff members at the College have been stuck with child care arrangements. That’s when Headmaster Beatty ’86 and the team stepped in to offer Camp RSGC for our RSGC “cousins”, as we so lovingly call the staff children.
RSGC has opened its doors to the kids on strike days, with anywhere from five to 12 children coming to school while their parents work. Junior School French teacher Patricia Penner has led the charge.
The kids have had exhausting, fun-filled days with trips to the park, play time with the bunnies, arts and crafts, basketball in the gym, reading time in the library, movies, hot chocolate and marshmallows, and games.
Ms. Stroud is a relatively new staff member whose two children have been coming to camp.
“The child care program that was put in place for our staff during the public school strike days speaks volumes to RSGC’s values, and the importance of family and community here,” she said. “I am truly grateful.”
