Mental Health at RSGC: Pride Day

This year was the third annual Pride Day at the College.
Throughout the day, there are classroom workshops on topics like understanding gender identity, breaking down social constructs and gender norms, the differences between sex and gender, and language and inclusivity. There is typically some kind of performance or interactive workshop during the Junior School assembly and then a special guest speaker at Evensong. The school also gathers to raise the Pride flag.

Andrea also facilitates the Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) once a month that sees up to 50 students attending from independent schools. The GSA was started by an RSGC student nine years ago.

“As the Mental Health & Wellness Perfect, I have noticed that everyone will go through problems at some point. We are working daily to make RSGC a good place to talk about what affects our mental health and to make it a safe place for those struggling with any kind of mental health problem. With resources like Ms. Kaye’s office, the learning centre and our advisors, there are plenty of resources available around the school.” – Oleksa Mojsiak, Class of 2020, Mental Health & Wellness Prefect
