For September 2021, our vibrant Junior School is looking for an innovative and spectacular Humanities teacher (Language Arts/Social Studies). This is a full-time permanent position. The successful candidate will be a teacher with training and/or experience in designing and implementing experiential programming and inquiry-based learning for grades 7 and 8, as well as the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. In addition to the responsibilities of teaching humanities and collaborative planning, the Humanities teacher will display a commitment to participating in co-curricular life.
Position Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instructional practices for a diverse community of learners
- A passion for reading, writing, creating, and, teaching and learning
- Excellent communication, organization and collaboration skills
- A knowledge of Cooperative Learning pedagogy and Habits of Mind would be an asset
- A commitment to cultivating and nurturing equity and inclusion in the classroom and school environment, familiarity with incorporating anti-oppressive and culturally responsive teaching practices into the classroom would be an asset
- An enthusiastic, kind and positive nature with a progressive and global-minded outlook
- A demonstrated love of children and a commitment to professional growth
- Strong relationship-building skills and joy for working with students of this age
- Experience teaching in a remote learning environment using Google Classroom would be an asset
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant teaching experience
- Ontario Teaching Certificate (Intermediate Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Education in good standing eligible with the Ontario College of Teachers
- Undergraduate degree in English Literature (preferred)
