Middle School Humanities

Located in the Annex neighbourhood in downtown Toronto, Royal St. George's College is an urban day school for boys that combines academic excellence with a stimulating and supportive environment. RSGC offers a challenging program of academics, athletics, the arts, outdoor education, community outreach, and co-curricular activities designed to fulfill our College’s Vision of “lifelong Georgians ready to use their scholarship, compassion, conscience and courage to make a difference.” 

For September 2021, our vibrant Junior School is looking for an innovative and spectacular Humanities teacher (Language Arts/Social Studies). This is a full-time permanent position. The successful candidate will be a teacher with training and/or experience in designing and implementing experiential programming and inquiry-based learning for grades 7 and 8, as well as the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. In addition to the responsibilities of teaching humanities and collaborative planning, the Humanities teacher will display a commitment to participating in co-curricular life.

Position Requirements: 
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instructional practices for a diverse community of learners
  • A passion for reading, writing, creating, and, teaching and learning
  • Excellent communication, organization and collaboration skills
  • A knowledge of Cooperative Learning pedagogy and Habits of Mind would be an asset
  • A commitment to cultivating and nurturing equity and inclusion in the classroom and school environment, familiarity with incorporating anti-oppressive and culturally responsive teaching practices into the classroom would be an asset
  • An enthusiastic, kind and positive nature with a progressive and global-minded outlook
  • A demonstrated love of children and a commitment to professional growth
  • Strong relationship-building skills and joy for working with students of this age
  • Experience teaching in a remote learning environment using Google Classroom would be an asset 
Qualifications and Experience 
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Ontario Teaching Certificate (Intermediate Qualifications)
  • Bachelor of Education in good standing eligible with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Undergraduate degree in English Literature (preferred)
