The Georgian Parents' Guild

The Georgian Parents' Guild is a volunteer association dedicated to supporting the academic, social, physical and spiritual environment of the students and the school, in partnership with the Headmaster and school community. All RSGC parents are automatically Guild members. We play an active part in school life and encourage you to get involved! It's a great way to get to know other parents, the faculty and the school - a very rewarding experience. Find out more about us, our events and parent volunteer opportunities by exploring the links below.
It is impossible to measure the contribution made by the thousands of volunteer hours put in by our members. However, every year through our fundraising initiatives, we also provide significant financial assistance to the school. In 2017/18, we were proud to have made our second of six annual $50,000 pledges toward the College's Great School, Great Boys campaign, as well as our annual $15,000 contribution to the Bursary Fund. We have funded equipment and resources for the gym, music programmes, academics, admissions and St. Albans Chapel. We also contribute to graduation awards, community service projects and support the Knights' Fayre.

  • Meet the Guild

We are composed of an Executive, Convenors and members. Convenors are responsible for leading specific Guild activities, some being one-time events and others ongoing throughout the year. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:30 am on campus with most meetings featuring a keynote speaker. Please check the calendar for dates and locations. Our meeting minutes and more are posted here for all parents to access. Drop by a meeting before work and try us out!

    Meet the Executive
The Executive is made up of the President, the first and second Vice Presidents, the past President and the Treasurer. We meet monthly to set agendas and review Guild initiatives.
Sydney is the mother of Jacob (Class of 2021) and Gabriel Buchan (Class of 24), and has been a member of the Guild since her boys first came to RSGC. She maintains a particular interest in Parent Connections and RSGC Reads. She has a PhD in English Literature and, luckily, a good sense of humour.

Sarah is the mother of Max (Class of 2026) and Conrad (Class of 2028), and has been a class parent and parent ambassador since her kids came to the school. Sarah is American, and moved to Toronto from London, England. Her career was in the music industry, and now she has a small jewellery business called Daily Pearls.

Caron is the mother of Cian Bryson (Class of 2022) and has been class parent and co-convenor of the Cheese Sale in the past at RSGC. Since leaving ESL teaching to focus on her family, Caron has become an active volunteer at her children’s schools and has been pursing personal interests in education and music, including RSGC's Rusty Knights.

Adair is the mother of Duncan (Class of 2023) and James (Class of 2024), and is grateful to RSGC for reuniting her with Sydney Stoyan, with whom she went to high school oh so many years ago! Adair runs her own consulting firm, advising governments and service providers on how to improve service delivery within the mental health and addictions service system. When the pandemic hit, Adair founded Feed the Frontlines TO to support local restaurants and food supply chains while providing nutritious meals to Toronto’s frontline health and social services workers, and individuals and families facing food insecurity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amanda is the mother of Nicholas '19, Christopher (Class of 2023), Cate (Branksome Hall ’21), Toby the dog and Dolly the horse! She has been a class parent and worked on the 50th Gala at RSGC, as well as the Branksome Parents’ Association. Amanda has been an executive in marketing and advertising for more than 25 years.
  • Getting Involved

Are you interested in more involvement at RSGC? There are many opportunities available for parents in the RSGC community whether you have only an hour to spare or a day. We welcome your support. It’s a great way to get to know RSGC and other parents as well as catching the occasional glimpse of your son.
There are regularly scheduled events and many pop-up activities that need volunteers. We use as our volunteer management portal to provide an easy and efficient way to sign up for volunteer shifts. Calls for volunteers go out via school emails and announcements with links to the volunteer portal.
If you have the time to become more active with the Guild please come to a meeting and introduce yourself. You can also contact Sydney Stoyan, who will be coordinating our volunteers for 2019-20. We especially encourage new parents to volunteer if possible because we want to meet you!
