Students and teachers are assigned to one of four Houses. The Houses represent the four major Cathedrals in England:
CANTERBURY
WESTMINSTER
WINCHESTER
YORK
The purpose of the House system is to promote school spirit and provide an opportunity for students to engage in a variety of activities. We build on past traditions and encourage friendly competition to provide positive experiences. Throughout the school year, Houses compete in such activities as the Terry Fox cross country run, House music competition and House drama competition. There are other activities such as House League games, proficiency marks, food and book drives, and various teams and clubs where individuals make a contributions to their House.
House pins are presented to Junior School students upon graduation. In the Senior School, as certain point totals are reached, students are awarded a chevron to wear with their House Pin. In addition, a gold pin is achieved with a total of 2750 points.
House standings are determined by summing the point totals of the students in that House. The House competition culminates on Prize Day when the J. L. Wright Cup is awarded to the House that has amassed the most points, and the Gilbride Cup to the individual who has earned the most points.
